And I’m going to be a bit piggish here, and say it actually belongs to me more than a lot of others!!! Well, maybe not, but I do have special claim on it! Not only is my special day in it… (it’s always nice to remember mom, though. A comment to which my own is probably rolling her at eyes right now and railing on me, cause I don’t remember to pick up the phone much)…. but all 3 of my children have birthdays in May. My irises, magnolia tree and peonies all bloom in May, too ~ just for me and mine. Top that off with school winding up (for the intense part) and that makes a great month!
Folks sometimes ask each other which season they like the best, to which I usually reply the in-between times. You know, when winter is about to end and spring is about to begin. Or summer is stretching out it’s last few lazy fingers and fall is rushing in. Guess it’s the anticipation of it all. Now, ask me my favorite month and I can be a little less of a fence sitter ~ May for me!!
I feel much the same way about April- the beginning of springtime, my personal favorite, my b-day, & seeing the light at the end of the school year
- but May holds a part of my fancy because that is when Chris & I met all those years ago, & when we started our lives together (though we didn’t marry until Sept)
We are the same way about adult birthdays around here; usually, we commemorate the days with a card & a kiss, & save the money for community purchases. I think Chris just wanted to do something special because all the time we have had to be apart this year (& the fact we had the extra income to spend on something “frivolous”)
