Where I’ve been!
I am so sorry! I haven’t been able to post for a while, and don’t know if I will be able to in the near future. You see, I have some wonderfully frustrating internet difficulties going on with my computers ~ both of them! My PC seems to need a new fan and so it shuts down after about 5 minutes of doing anything. Right now I am on my laptop, which has been shutting down on internet stuff after about 5 or 6 page clicks or if I try to have several windows open. Virus??? Don’t know… seems to be working right now, or maybe I’m just unknowingly racing against the clock (you’ll know if I get this posted, at least for this time.).
At any rate, I’ve been trying to make frequent trips to our public library and the public access computers, but do you have any idea how interestin it is to try to do computer work in a public pace with a 2 year old?
So, I’m just able to check into the important e-mails and race off a few replies before I need to duck and run from all of the glares of those around me. “Don’t you people have any idea that this is the wa 2 year olds are? AND this IS a public library with, might I add, a children’s section!!” Anyway…
Fun with a map and compass and in the park!
Have kept us going at our own leisurly summertime pace… still trying to make it through the whole disk golf course at the nearby local park… we are getting better, slowly but surely. It sure is a fun way to explore a park! I had no idea our park had so many hidden nooks and crannies!
The newest cheapie fun we’ve found to try is letterboxing. Similar to the whole current GPS geocaching phenomenon, but you don’t need the high-tech gadgetry (ya’ll know me… not into most gadgets). Just a compass and a stamp. Basically, it’s a huge scavenger hunt going on all over the world! We are currently trying to find one in another park… we’ve been to where it is, we just haven’t explored it’s hiding place deep enough. So we’re about to set off for that again in a little while. Another one we’ve tried is at a rest area… that one may have to wait until winter and the overgrowth dies back! For more info, check out http://www.lbna.net/kids/ and just clickj around a bit until you get to the main pae and links to other sites, as this sub-link is primarily for children. You could also try googleing “letterboxing”. Have fun and let me know if you’re getting into it!
Thanks so much for everbody checking in with me and asking if I’ve dropped off of the face of the planet. So, I’m not off the planet, just the ether-planet! I’ll try to get on as often as I can. I’ll be at my folks house in a week or so, so maybe a little bit easier to post from there! Granny is turning 89! Happy birthday Granny! We love you! xoxoxoxoxo
Glad to hear from you & that everyone is well (except for the computer
)
Letterboxing sounds like fun & less expensive then Geocaching.
Hope you all have a fun 4th of July!
I’m glad to hear from you too, I had thought you’d dropped off the face of the Earth.
The letterboxing sounds like a blast, I’ll have to check it out for when Lilla is a bit older!
Happy Birthday to Grandma!
Amy
Hi! Glad to hear all is (basically!) well with you! I hate computer glitches… I can barely figure them out when they do work. That letterboxing sounds fun… I will have to check that out.
