Two Greats Have Passed

I can’t even begin to tell you what a huge fan I am! My children were so tickled, just last year, to hear that she was alive. They couldn’t believe it. Now to share the news. Of course, to tweens who are “indestructible” I’m sure it won’t have as big an impact.

Not such a huge fan. But how can you not mourn if you love music?

I’ve never read any of her books but once Lilla gets a bit older maybe we will.
I really think Pavarotti had an amazing talent. Unfortunately, I wish I wouldn’t have read more about his life. He didn’t lead such a good private one.
Kind of scars you. Like when I found out about Ray Charles, Georgia on my mind was never the same. Too bad.
I guess that just makes me want to live a better life, so, someday when I am gone people will say, “She really lived for Christ!”
You should really read “A Wrinkle In Time” as an adult first, then read it with a child. Lengle is an intense kind of children’s author. I think her idea was that children are up to the task… our goals and standards are not too high… we have to expect big things to get big things. So it will take a read through first to understand enough to get excited for the child reading it… unless they just happen to be a science fan.
The funny, or not so funny, thing about artists and people in general is that we are all less than what we could be. Even the one “with a heart like His” was a total screw up at times. Uh, I would say David’s whole life was nothing short of a soap opera. And yet, the beauty shines through.
