A WordPress blog : Untangling Tales
For those of you just joining me for the blog tipping fun, here’s a primer. I pick a blog that I like, include a link, give 3 things I like about it and 1 little bit of something I think might make it better. This last part is always hard for me, so be nice to me as I try to be helpful and nice too (which is, after all, harder than just trying to be helpful… that can get mean and uncaring).
So, I don’t know that it’s any particular honor or anything, it is just a bunch of my own opinion. But it is meant to be helpful to those who care to read my blog and I do hope to push some readers to blogs that I enjoy. So, enjoy this, the first tip I’ve had time to do in a while because of the move!
Untangling Tales is written by Amy, a mother of three who lives in Alaska.
1: I was first drawn to Amy’s blog by the title… Untangling Tales made me think there might be some thought put into this blog, more than just what I seem to be able to capture ~ the few minutes of time snatched in between *this* toddler moment and *that* tweener need. I was not disappointed! Amy is not shy about sharing her opinion about things and it is a very thoughtful opinion. For example, this post on Daddy’s… Amy very nicely summed up the problem of negative expectations on Dads and gives her ideas on what to do to create more positive expectations.
2: Amy also doesn’t stop at the post. In the same one I referenced above, we see thoughtful comments and Amy coming back to comment and clarify more + she leaves, as a comment, a link to a future post she wrote to clarify more. I definitly like following the train of thought! It’s helpful in this blog-world to see entire trains and not just the engine or the caboose!
3: There is a theme here and it’s words! It is so evident that Amy is a well-read woman trying to be a writer (and succeeding, I believe) herself. There are quotes all over the place and she notes books she’s read or is reading and enjoys. She participates in “Writer…Interrupted”, and does something called Tuesday Tales ~ both of which I’m going to have to find out more about. But for the purposes of this tip, all I really need to know is that I like what she writes! I think you will too.
Thoughts that might help? I would LOVE to see some pictures! I am intrigued by the writing, as well as the material, and my mind’s eye would love a little taste too!
How sweet–
thanks for the tip ;o)
I have thought about pictures sometimes, but that will take a higher level of technical coordination than I currently have ;D
I’ve actually thought ‘audio’ sooner than pix, b/c of the words aspect of my blog. I’ve highlighted songs I now wish I could go back and sing, and so put them in context.
Not quite there yet, either. :o)
I will have to give her a little look…hey, she’s got a great name so she’s off to a really good start!
I am enjoying your blog and I must add you to my blogwalk. I always love a new blog to check out.
Excellent job Tammy! Glad to meet you and see Amy’s blog too.
